I recall only having one birthday party as a child and I didn’t have another one until I was 30 years old.

I can distinctly remember that eight-year-old party because it wasn’t expected in any kind of way.

My parents died when I was six years old. My sister and I were sent to live with my mother’s parents and my brothers were sent to live with one of my mother’s sisters. The party was thrown by a different aunt (Aunt Alice, may GOD continue to rest her soul), who lived next door to us.

It was so unexpected because she had her own two daughters to take care of, and in those days, there was no extra income for things like parties.

I specifically remember casually visiting their house and seeing the party food in her refrigerator. Never did I even remotely think that it had something to do with me.

I was completely surprised and will never forget what was done for me.

In my attic, I still have those 8-year-old birthday cards.

What do You Keep in Remembrance?

Do you remember any particular gesture, that you have experienced?

There is one act of kindness that was done for ALL of us.

It was pre-planned before the foundation of the world (Hebrews 9:26) and foretold by JESUS, HIMSELF.

Luke 22: 14- 20

14 And when the hour was come, HE sat down, and the twelve apostles with HIM. 15 And HE said unto them, With desire I have desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer: 16 For I say unto you, I will not any more eat thereof, until it be fulfilled in the kingdom of GOD. 17 And HE took the cup, and gave thanks, and said, Take this, and divide it among yourselves: 18 For I say unto you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine, until the kingdom of GOD shall come. 19 And HE took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, This is MY body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of ME. 20 Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the new testament in MY blood, which is shed for you.

HE was the ONE that put emphasis on the fact that HIS death on the cross was significant.  HIS death on the cross was representation of the penalty of sin passing over from you and I, and onto HIM. No one has ever done anything greater for you. HE is the true definition of Greatest of All Time (and outside of time, too.)

What About You?

How do you honor the significance of HIS death?

The significance of your REPLACEMENT.

The significance of being LOVED enough to die for?

I hope that it is not limited to an annual ritualistic day.  This KEEPSAKE deserves to be housed in your heart for safe keeping and as a constant reminder of what was done for you.

HE wanted us to remember.

Do you?

Bless the LORD Affirmation

FATHER,

Thank YOU for the GIFT of JESUS.  We bless this Name that YOU have designated as SUPREME (Philippians 2:9-11). Our soul will pursue a posture of remembrance by obtaining and maintaining the appropriate mindset required to acknowledge this sheer ACCESS that has granted us existence and life.

Bless the LORD oh my soul and all that is within me.

Bless YOUR Holy Name

God gives us new grace and mercy everyday.

    1. Hi Gwen,
I’m so glad you’re here. Where would we be without those who prayed for us? I’m grateful for grace and mercy too. Much love to you.
