There is an old church hymn entitled Pass Me Not, O Gentle Saviour.  It was written by a blind lyricist named Fanny Crosby. Fanny Crosby was born in 1824 and during the 94 years that she lived on the earth, she penned over 8000 hymns.

She was known as a sacred song writer. Oftentimes not accredited for her work due to gender inequality during the 18 & 1900s.

Her hymn writing process always began with prayer. It was her goal for GOD to inspire the writings of her hymns.

Similar is my goal regarding writing a blog. I do not want to write it, if HE has not inspired it.

For example, HE woke me up with the song Pass Me Not O Gentle Saviour serenading to my soul, and instantly I knew that HE had provided my next blog topic.

The song was inspired by the scripture Luke 18:38.

In Luke chapter 18, there is a story about a blind man begging on the road to Jericho, and JESUS was in the area. The blind man had perceived that a multitude was passing by him, and he was curious about what the unusual crowd meant.

Some bystanders told him that it was because of JESUS.  Therefore, the blind man called out and said, “JESUS, THOU Son of David,” have mercy on me. Bystanders told him to hold his peace, but in his urgent need, his crying out intensified.

JESUS heard his cry, stood up, and commanded for the blind man to be brought to HIM.  JESUS asked the man what did he want HIM, to do for him?

The blind man requested, to receive his sight, and GOD granted his request because of the blind man’s faith in HIS ability to do so.

What About You?

Do you feel like you are missing out on the benefit of the nearness of GOD?

Do you have a need?

HIS question applies to you just like the blind beggar: What do you want HIM to do for you?

Do you believe that HE can answer it for you?

Do not let the opportunity to ask HIM, pass you by.

Pass me not, O gentle SAVIOR
Hear my humble cry
While on others THOU art calling
Do not pass me by SAVIOR, SAVIOR
Hear my humble cry
While on others THOU art calling
Do not pass me by
Let me at THY throne of mercy
Find a sweet relief
Kneeling there in deep contrition
Help my unbelief SAVIOR, SAVIOR
Hear my humble cry
While on others THOU art calling
Do not pass me by
Trusting only in THY merit
Would I seek THY face
Heal my wounded, broken spirit
Save me by THY grace SAVIOR, SAVIOR
Hear my humble cry
While on others THOU art calling
Do not pass me by

Bless the LORD Affirmation

Dearest FATHER,

Thank YOU for your SON JESUS and HIS sacrifice that now places HIM at every crossroads that we are sitting by.  We will be bold enough to command our souls to call out to HIM in faith for mercy. While on others YOU are calling, do not pass us by.

Bless the LORD oh my soul and all that is within me. Bless YOUR Holy Name

  2. This truly touched my heart❤️My grandmother hummed and sang this song while rubbing her hands together as she sat in her red recliner on so many days. She was partially blind due to glaucoma, but never, ever complained. She quietly passed away in her sleep, at home at the age of 101. Thanks so much for sharing this beautiful story. Lord, do not pass me by… I’m calling🙏🏽

    1. Thank you for sharing, Mother Vickie. I miss the wisdom that your grandmother’s generation imparted. They truly revered the necessity of GOD in our everyday lives. Blessings to you!
